Doweling Jigs Aren’t Just for Doweling Anymore
If you’ve ever tried to drill an accurately centered hole in round stock, you know the challenges involved. First, you need a way to keep the workpiece from rolling as you work. And if you accomplish that, it still takes a good eye and maybe a little luck to get your hole (or holes) centered and straight.

An easy alternative is to pick up a self-centering doweling jig, clamp it over the workpiece and start drilling. Your hole will be clean, guaranteed on center, and in the right spot.
